Joe Kovacs, representing the United States along with Velaasa and New York Athletic Club, secured a silver medal in the men's shot put final with a fifth-round mark of 75-1.25 (22.89m) at the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Kovacs, a two-time World champion in 2015 and 2019, earned his fourth career medal at the meet to go along with a pair of Olympic silver medals.
